Enjoy Fishing in Idaho

To know if this is the best trip for you, let’s start by trying to talk you out of going. I know that sounds strange, but chasing Steelhead in the month of February in Idaho is a challenging pursuit. You need to be willing to be coached-up on new techniques, and be about the hunt not just the reward.
The joy you get from hooking into these fish is similar to what I experience chasing after Permit on the fly. The way we go after these fish gives us the best opportunity, while we also mix in swinging more productive stretches. You will be on waters that are home to the largest strain of steelhead in the world, and you have an opportunity here to play with a 20 lb. Steely. That is just silly! If you want to know what this trip means to people, just look at the smiles on our clients faces’ in the slide show at the bottom of the page.

Trip Details

Fly Fishing the Clearwater River in Idaho is a trip you must take. It is simply the best for the adventure of catching steelhead.

Program

Staying at Kamiah KOA puts us in the heart of steelhead country. Lodging has wifi, flat screen tv’s, hot showers and great beds to rest up in after a full day of chasing steelhead. Each day will start with an amazing breakfast from the Hearthstone Bakery. We will spend the day floating with opportunities to get out and swing the more productive stretches when water temps permit. We fish two anglers to a boat but have the option to add a third when using conventional gear or pulling plugs. When we have more anglers we are able to locate fish faster and help land our more challenging steelhead. Its a team effort and when the boat lands one we all win.

Whats Included

For $250 a day per person you are covered for your float trip fishing gear and a lunch. We are able to offer spey and conventional fishing options to our guests so make sure to express your wanted method for chasing these fish. Our guides will also advise based on river conditions. When regulations allow we will keep hatchery fish that the guides will clean at the end of each day. We recommend

What’s Not Included

Airfare to and from Nez Perce Municipal airport in Lewiston Idaho, or Spokane International Airport in Spokane Washington, your shuttle or rental car, fishing license, liquor, gratuity for your guides and housekeeping staff. You will also need to bring warm layers in include waders and boots. A fishing license can be purchased once you arrive from Tom Cat sporting goods located in Kooskia ID.

Itinerary

We recommend that you book at least three river days with us to aid in the learning process of this adventure, but if you only have one day to get it done then lets get after it. We have clients catch fish on their first day as the Steelhead gods seem to have a sense of humor. However, to maximize your opportunities with these amazing fish, we need to put in the time. We fish two in a boat so grab a friend and share this memory together. When we hook into one of these beasts, it can turn into an all hands on deck situation, so the more hands the better.

All bookings for this trip go through Clearwater River Company.  We are just guides for this outing and assist in the bookings. To ensure that we have your dates correct, you need to email Everset Outfitters at everset.us@gmail.com so that we can put you into our calendar of availability.
